Calls For Establishment MidWest Sexual Assault Trauma Unit
Published 1 week ago
Description
It's claimed survivors of sexual assault in Clare and across the MidWest have less supports available to them than the rest of the country.
It comes amid calls for a sexual assault trauma unit to be established in the region, which would allow forensically collected evidence to be stored for up to a year.
Rape Crisis MidWest, meanwhile, currently has 80 people on its waiting list for counselling support.
Sinn Féin TD Maurice Quinlivan says the need for such a service is urgent.
