Published 2 months, 2 weeks ago
Description
On February 13 at approximately 1:12 a.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 800 block of Hampstead Court for shots fired. While on scene, additional shots were heard nearby. A vehicle of interest fled a traffic stop but was located, leading to the arrest of the driver on charges of concealed weapon, reckless handling of a firearm, discharging a firearm within city limits, DUI first offense, eluding police, and driving while suspended. The incident remains under investigation by Third Precinct officers.

Later that day at about 6:00 p.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred on Shore Drive. The driver of one vehicle was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle succumbed to injuries the following day, February 14. Preliminary investigation indicates the second vehicle was traveling eastbound when the first entered its lane, resulting in a collision. The incident remains under investigation by the VBPD Traffic Safety Unit.

On February 17, VBPD executed search warrants at a location on Williamsburg Road, arresting ten individuals after recovering firearms, narcotics, and ammunition from a condemned home. Arrests made.

No other major criminal incidents reported for the week of February 14-20.

No significant trends or patterns noted; overall low violent crime activity consistent with city reports.
