Crime 101 Review: A $90M Crime Noir That Plays It Too Safe

Jose (Cupcake) and Mike (TheWilldaBeast) put Crime 101 (2026) under the microscope — Amazon's star-studded crime thriller adapted from Don Winslow's novel and directed by documentary filmmaker Bart Layton. 🎬 The guys go deep on whether Chris Hemsworth can hold his own as a brooding dramatic lead, what Halle Berry and Mark Ruffalo bring to this neo-noir collision course, and whether Barry Keoghan's scene-stealing energy is enough to elevate the whole thing. 💥 They break down the film's gorgeous cinematography by Erik Wilson, a pulse-pounding electronic score by Blank Mass, and a $90 million production that looks every penny of its budget on the big screen. 🎵 But does this Michael Mann-inspired, multi-character heist drama bring anything new to the genre — or is it just a pretty puzzle you've already solved? 🧩 Tune in to find out if Crime 101 earns a spot on your watchlist or gets sent straight to the back of the queue! Don’t forget to subscribe and come back in two days for the SPOILER’d movie breakdown discussion.
