While I’m not Catholic myself, I came across a quote from the Pope that resonated with me. He said: “I would like to invite you to a very practical and frequently unappreciated form of abstinence: that of refraining from words that hurt and offend our neighbors.” I interpreted that as “kindness for Lent”.
