Green Party Secures Stunning Victory in Leicester City Council By-election

The Green Party made history by winning the Stoneygate seat in a Leicester City Council by-election, marking their first time having three representatives from that ward. Aasiya Bora, a former English teacher and advocate for walking and cycling charities, secured the victory with 1,195 votes, surpassing Labours Adam Sabat who received 1,889 votes. The by-election was held on February 19th following the death of popular Labour councillor Manjula Sood. Bora attributed her success to positive campaigning and a significant 22% swing to the Greens. She expressed gratitude to supporters and looked forward to working with her Green group and allies for Leicesters people.
