GUESTS are: Award-winning director Alain Martin and NY Times Award-Winning author Roxane Gay. The film, The Forgotten Occupation: Jim Crow Goes to Haiti, examines the hypocrisy of the U.S. occupation, where American attitudes and systemic racism from the Jim Crow South were imported to the Caribbean, often forcing Haitians into service under threat of violence.  Directed by Martin, he uses a letter-writing) style, addressing his grandfather, Brunel Martin, who lived through the occupation. Author Roxane Gay serves as the film's executive producer. The documentary features insights from scholars and notable figures, including Edwidge Danticat and Patrick Bellegarde-Smith.
