Vos, LeMahieu close ranks on tax relief package
Published 2 months ago
Description
Wisconsin has a projected 2.5 billion dollar surplus – but party leaders can’t agree on how it should be spent. Until recently, Republican legislative leaders have also been divided on the issue; Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu claimed last week that he’d been cut out of negotiations completely.
He changed his tune Monday, cosigning a proposal with Assembly Speaker Robin Vos that aims to relieve taxpayers…but ignores the governor’s key priority to increase school aid.
For an overview of what’s happened so far and what it would take to reach a deal before the end of this session, our News Producer Faye Parks sat down with JR Ross, editor of multimedia news outlet WisPolitics.
