The Justice Department has issued new subpoenas in a Florida-based investigation tied to the government’s response to Russian interference in the 2016 election, expanding earlier requests connected to the January 2017 intelligence assessment. Lawyers for former CIA Director John Brennan say he has been informed he is a target but has not been given any legally justifiable basis for the probe.

At the same time, Republican lawmakers are challenging how phone records were obtained in the January 6 investigation, while immigration policy disputes continue to fuel a partial government shutdown.
