Dr. Ali Riaz is a distinguished professor of political science at Illinois State University in Normal, IL, a nonresident senior fellow of the Atlantic Council and president of the American Institute of Bangladesh Studies. He is a prolific author of books on South Asian politics, a respected academic and frequently sought contributor to various media on his topics of expertise. In this interview he spoke to Amitabh Pal and Gil Halsted from Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, where he has been serving as the Special Assistant to Nobel Laureate, Muhamad Yunus, the Chief Adviser to the Bangladesh Interim Government. While in Bangladesh Dr. Riaz served as the Vice Chairman of the National Consensus Commission and as the Head of the Constitutional Reform Commission which he talks about in his interview.
