Logan Sawyer may be the most underrated prospect in the Montreal Canadiens pipeline—and his breakout season is turning heads. After being drafted in the third round (78th overall) in 2024, Sawyer has taken a major leap at Providence College, already surpassing his freshman totals with 23 points in just 27 games while showing improved strength, confidence, and offensive instincts.

Now standing nearly 6’3” and close to 200 pounds, Sawyer’s physical growth and competitive mentality—what he calls having “a lot of ‘F you’ in my game”—are helping him emerge as a legitimate future NHL option for Montreal. His development, hockey IQ, and increasing production suggest he could climb quickly in the Canadiens prospect rankings and become an important piece of the team’s long-term rebuild.

In this video, Shaun Starr and Marco D’Amico break down Logan Sawyer’s rapid development, what makes him such a dangerous under-the-radar prospect, and when he could realistically push for an NHL role with the Montreal Canadiens.
