What do you do when the world feels like it’s unraveling?

In this episode of Dad Jokes and Discernment, we dive deep into the Old Testament book of Habakkuk and wrestle with one of the hardest questions believers face: Why does God allow evil—and why doesn’t He fix it faster?

Habakkuk looked around at corruption, injustice, violence, and moral decay in Judah and cried out, “How long, O Lord?” Sound familiar?

Instead of getting the answer he expected, Habakkuk was told that judgment was coming—and not in the way he would have chosen. What followed wasn’t despair. It was one of the most powerful declarations of faith in Scripture:

“The just shall live by faith.” (Habakkuk 2:4)
“Yet I will rejoice in the Lord…” (Habakkuk 3:18)

In this episode, we talk about:

  • Faith when God’s timeline doesn’t match ours
  • Trusting God in times of political chaos and social unrest
  • Free will, justice, and the problem of evil
  • Why worship matters more than having all the answers
  • How to stay grounded when culture feels like it’s collapsing

This isn’t a political episode—it’s a biblical one. If you’ve ever asked, “God, what are You doing?” this conversation is for you.

The book of Habakkuk doesn’t end with explanations. It ends with worship.

And maybe that’s the point.
