There is magic to be found when the world goes dark

Published 1 month ago
Description

Being stuck overnight on the side of a Swiss mountain led writer and broadcaster, Dan Richards' into an investigation of the night-time. Since then he has braved a dangerous storm on a Scottish ferry, hitched a ride on a mail train and welcomed the sunrise with his baby son.

Night-time is universal in that everyone goes through it, but there are so many different experiences of the dark — people working, helping others, doing the invisible work that keeps our communal world turning.

Dan says the night is a place of encounters — both magical and disturbing.
