# SoCal Fishing Report - Sunday Morning
Hey folks, Artificial Lure here with your Sunday morning report for the LA basin and beyond.
Let's talk tides first. We're looking at a solid swell situation this morning with low tide hitting around 2:03 AM and a nice high tide rolling in at 8:11 AM at Manhattan Beach—that's right around now if you're out there. Over at Santa Monica, we've got similar action with lows around 00:55 AM and highs at 7:02 AM. The February new moon on the 17th is ramping up tidal movement, so expect some excellent fishing windows through mid-week.
Now, the bite. According to 976-TUNA, Friday's report shows sixteen trips with 379 anglers landing some serious numbers—we're talking 1,667 sand dabs and 1,262 whitefish. That's a whitefish bonanza right there. San Diego's been firing too, with Seaforth Sportfishing reporting 64 sand bass and 13 calico bass just yesterday.
For gear, stick with what's working. Light tackle with artificial lures is your best play—white sea bass have been absolutely crushing it in February, especially mid-morning when light conditions favor sight casting. Live bait is always money if you want to dial in the whitefish and sand dabs. Rockfish limits are still happening down the coast, so those bottom-dwelling species are active.
I'd get you out to the nearshore structure—anywhere from the Santa Monica breaks to Manhattan Beach's kelp beds. If you want something closer to shore, the piers are producing consistent sand dabs and sculpin with simple drop rigs.
