The Seanad has heard that the entire country should follow the example of County Clare when it comes to coastal protection.
The recent Storm Chaundra saw significant damage to infrastructure as well as extensive flooding along the east coast.
Following a severe spate of flooding in 2024, the multi-million euro Lahinch Coastal Protection Scheme was developed to protect public facilities and private property.
Ennistymon Senator Martin Conway says this type of reason is needed nationwide.
