A Life Spent at Full Draw: The MFJJ Story

Episode 231 Published 1 month, 1 week ago
Description

In this episode, Will Cooper sits down with Josh Jones — known to many as MFJJ and the voice behind Podium Archer — to talk about a life rooted in archery from the very start. Josh wasn’t just introduced to bows as a kid — he was fletching arrows at five years old. Raised inside the culture, around pro shops, bowhunters, and industry voices, his journey is one of growing up with archery woven into everyday life.

Josh shares how that early immersion shaped the way he sees the sport today, from craftsmanship and respect for the gear to the responsibility of representing the archery lifestyle the right way. The conversation follows his path into building Podium Archer as a platform focused on real archers, honest perspectives, and preserving the culture that shaped him.

Will and Josh also dig into a growing issue in the community: division between vertical bow shooters and crossbow hunters. Too often, crossbows get dismissed as “cross rifles” or labeled as “not real archery.” This episode challenges that mindset head-on. At the end of the day, we all started because we love launching an arrow, being close to the animal, and embracing the discipline that comes with it. Drawing lines inside our own community only weakens it.

This episode is a call for perspective, respect, and unity — because the future of archery is stronger when we stop gatekeeping and start standing together.
