Details Announced For Permanent Basic Income For The Arts Scheme

Published 2 weeks, 4 days ago
Description
The Government has this week announced details of a new permanent Basic Income for the Arts scheme, which will see 2,000 artists receive €325 a week for three years. The successor to the pilot programme launched in 2022, the scheme has been described by the Minister as a “major milestone” and a move that puts Ireland at the forefront of artist supports internationally. On Friday's Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey was joined by Peter Power, Steering Group Member of the National Campaign for the Arts, and Ennis singer-songwriter Laura Mulcahy to discuss what this means for artists and for the future of the arts in Ireland.
