Trump's Plan for the MAGA Media Monopoly is Taking Shape

Published 4 months, 2 weeks ago
Description

President Trump is pushing to merge Nexstar and Tegna, which would give a single company control over 80% of local television markets in America. This merger would exceed FCC ownership caps and represents the authoritarian playbook for media control, the same strategy Vladimir Putin used to seize Russia's press.

Meanwhile, we learned that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard buried an NSA intelligence report for eight months. The report, which involved a foreign source contacting someone close to Trump, was flagged as highly sensitive. Rather than following standard procedures, Gabbard allegedly took a physical copy, hand-delivered it to Trump's Chief of Staff, and instructed the NSA not to share it with Congress or anyone else. A whistleblower has since filed a formal complaint.

These events reveal a pattern of consolidating control over information and blocking oversight. The comparison to Putin's Russia is not rhetorical, it is structural. When one entity controls what Americans see and hear, and when intelligence is hidden from those who provide accountability, the foundations of democracy are at risk.
