111. PONY: Tarot Cards, Collecting Trash and the Making of Clearly Cursed | Emo Kids Anonymous
Description
Welcome to EKA 111! Today we are joined by Canadian duo PONY. Sam and Matty are a couple of good ol' Canadian kids with a serious AOTY contender dropping in a couple of days (Clearly Cursed out Feb 13 via Take This To Heart Records), and we were lucky enough to be joined by them to talk about everything under the northern sun. Detroit Pistons, Rick Campanelli, we covered it all.
Sam told us the tale of the tarot card reader who warned her of a dark spirit she is carrying and how she deals with it (heavy, right?). They walked us through the writing process for the new record, including some surprises. Janet Jackson, Sheryl Crow. PONY know ball fr fr. Our PONY pals also explained the concept of the Canadian vocal flip that all of your favorite Canadian pop stars do. Avril, Alanis, Shania, even the Barenaked Ladies do it! Be sure to go check out their new album this Friday, seriously. If we did an EKA version of Oprah's book club, Clearly Cursed would be our pick of the month.
