The time is now 4:02 AM in New York, I'm Noa Levi and this is the latest Israel Today: Ongoing War Report.

In the conflict with Iran and its Regional Proxies, a renewed nuclear agreement between Washington and Tehran would reduce the immediate nuclear danger but would still leave Israel exposed to Iran’s missile program and proxy networks, according to Prof. Amatzia Baram of the University of Haifa in an interview with Maariv. Baram said Washington seeks a clear, signed achievement that can be framed as a bigger win than the 2015 deal, and warned that such an agreement may drop tougher demands on Iran’s ballistic missiles, its proxies, and protections for protesters at home. He cautioned that, for Israel, other threats would remain even if the nuclear issue is contained, noting that Tehran could show flexibility on the nuclear topic while preserving its missiles and regional influence. Separately, a report from Tehran notes celebrations around the 1979 revolution with references to diplomacy and, reportedly, burials for American officials. In Israel, security officials say there is a push to strengthen air-defense postures, with a series of exercises yielding a significant upgrade to the interception capabilities of the Iron Dome system, known as Kla David, as part of preparing for advanced threats.

In the Disputed Territories (Gaza, Judea and Samaria, East Jerusalem), the IDF confirmed that Hamas sniper Ahmad Hasan headed the Beit Hanoun sniper array in northern Gaza and led the July 7 operation in which five Israeli soldiers were killed and two were severely wounded; Hasan had been identified as planning additional attacks against troops in Gaza. In another development overnight, Israeli forces in the West Bank reportedly captured a knife-wielding attacker near the Ein Ayin (Ein Tziyon) area in the Binyamin region with no injuries reported. The military has described Hasan as central to multiple terror plots and operations linked to Hamas’ Beit Hanoun Battalion. Separately, a major upgrade to Israel’s air-defense layer continues as authorities highlight progress on the Kla David interceptor system, part of ongoing efforts to counter missiles, drones, and other threats.

In US Policy Concerning Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly prepared to tell President Trump that the second phase of the Gaza deal is at impasse and to press for military action against Hamas, as the IDF readies for a potential new operation.

In Antisemitism and Anti-Jewish Hate, an advertisement in Australia claimed to represent “over 1,000 Jews” opposing Israeli President Isaac Herzog, listing names without consent and including some that were fake; the Executive Council of Australian Jewry called the ad a misrepresentation of Jewish sentiment and said it was a fringe disinformation effort. A separate brief notes that stepping on Israeli and American flags is described as a standard part of the event.

In Israeli Domestic Politics, Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s visit to Australia sparked protests outside Parliament House as Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hosted the visit. Albanese thanked Herzog for the “comfort” his presence provides to Australia’s Jewish community, while Herzog said the trip aims to strengthen bilateral ties, even as protests continued. Separately, Prime Minister Netanyahu signed orders revoking the citizenship and ordering the deportation of two Jerusalem-born terrorists who carried out stabbing and shooting attacks and were rewarded by the Palestinian Authority; Mahmoud Ahmad and Muhammad Ahmad Halsim were identified with long prison terms.
