Week One: Hitting the Mark

As I was reading Mark 11:23–24, something new stood out to me. The phrase “those things he says” caught my attention. I had always thought it referred only to the words spoken to the mountain standing in my way, but now I see it’s deeper than that. These verses remind us to believe every word we speak, because our words carry faith and power. When I began speaking with faith and conviction rather than out of habit or to please others, everything changed. I stopped using empty or sympathetic words that led in the wrong direction and started aligning my speech with truth. Faith truly comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. That’s why we must guard every word that leaves our mouths. As 1 Peter 3:10 reminds us, “Whoever wants to love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from speaking deceit (treachery, guile, lies).”
