Washington Nationals Acquire Andre Granillo from St. Louis Cardinals: A Promising Addition to the Rotation
The Washington Nationals have acquired right-handed pitcher Andre Granillo from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for right-hander George Soriano. Granillo, a 25-year-old native of Hemet, California, made his big league debut last year with the Cardinals, posting a 1-0 record and a 4.71 ERA in 21 innings. He struck out 18 batters and held opponents to a .188 batting average.
Granillo was a 14th-round pick by the Cardinals in 2021 out of the University of California, Riverside. In the minors last season at Triple-A Memphis, he posted a 1.29 ERA over 29 games, striking out 58 batters in 42 innings and allowing opponents to hit just .144 against him. He also showed great control, ranking 9th in baserunners per nine innings and tied for 12th in walks plus hits per inning pitched among minor leaguers with at least 40 innings.
Over five minor league seasons, Granillo is 22-15 with a 3.55 ERA, 31 saves, and 332 strikeouts. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Nationals moved Trevor Williams to the 60-day injured list. This trade gives Washington a promising arm with upside as they prepare for next season. Checkout https://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
