Church Out of the Box: Worship by Pastor Steve Dow on Sunday, Feb. 8 2026
Published 2 months, 2 weeks ago
Description
Breaking the Chains of Traditional Worship
In this powerful teaching, Pastor Steve Dow explores the transformative power of worship that refuses to be contained by circumstances, traditions, or the opinions of others. True worship is more than a song; it is a lifestyle that invites the very presence of God to inhabit our daily lives.
-- The Box Defined: The "box" represents self-preservation, pride, arrogance, and rigid traditionalism that precludes a fresh move of the Holy Spirit.
-- Worship as a Lifestyle: Out of the box worship happens everywhere—in your car, on a motorcycle, and in your workplace—not just within the four walls of a church building.
-- The Cost of Worship: Using the example of Paul and Silas in Acts 16, we see that true worship often comes with a price, yet it holds the power to break literal and spiritual chains.
-- The Ripple Effect: Your personal worship has the potential to free those around you. When Paul and Silas sang at midnight, every prisoner's chains were loosed.
-- Audience of One: Following the example of King David, we must be willing to be "undignified" in our praise, prioritizing God's pleasure over human expectations.
-- The Inhabiting Presence: When we praise, God "sits down" among us (Yashab), changing the atmosphere and releasing healing, deliverance, and forgiveness.
