John Sayles is an Oscar nominated American independent film director, screenwriter, editor, actor, and novelist. He is known for writing and directing the films The Brother from Another Planet, Matewan, Eight Men Out, Passion Fish, The Secret of Roan Inish, Lone Star, Men with Guns, Sunshine State, Silver City and Amigo. He has written eight novels, the most recent being Yellow Earth, To Save the Man, Crucible and the forthcoming Gods of Gotham.
