Early Tuesday morning, Aurora police pursued a stolen vehicle after a Flock camera alert. CBS News Colorado reports the suspects refused to stop, with a masked passenger pointing a gun at officers. The car struck a median, became airborne, and crashed at Boiling Drive and North Hannibal Street. Three suspects fled on foot but were captured hiding in nearby backyards: Angelo Munguia, 18, facing felony menacing, obstructing a peace officer, violation of a protection order, and motor vehicle trespass; Watti Heng, 18, facing motor vehicle theft and obstructing a peace officer; and a juvenile. All in custody.
Saturday night, a hit-and-run at East Colfax Avenue and Sable Boulevard left an 18-year-old male pedestrian fatally injured after crossing against the traffic signal. The Sentinel Colorado states Aurora's Real Time Information Center identified the suspect SUV's license plate from video footage. Within hours, officers arrested 71-year-old Talal Maaliki, charged with leaving the scene of an accident; additional charges pending. Victim identity to be released by coroner.
No other criminal incidents reported in Aurora for the previous week.
