Today on the podcast, Jane is joined by producer Sam J Leeds to do a deep dive into protest movements in Seattle. They start with speaking to South Seattle resident Katie, who is part of the networks of people making ICE whistle packets and doing community education related to civil rights and rapid response. Then Jane and Sam speak to two UW students who were part of last year’s pro-Palestinian student occupation of a UW building. They get into what the protest hoped to accomplish, what happened to the students in the aftermath, and what a records request revealed about how the Trump administration was pressuring UW to respond.
