Fire managers on the Prescott National Forest plan to conduct pile burns around the Mingus Summit on the Verde Ranger District. Pending all required approvals, ignitions could begin as early as Wednesday, Jan. 28, and will occur over approximately 72 acres as prescribed burning conditions remain favorable. Recent and ongoing rainfall events have provided favorable conditions to allow for pile burning in numerous areas across the forest. Expect smoke impacts to be visible from multiple locations including 89A around Mingus Summit, the Verde Valley and Prescott Valley. Smoke will be heaviest during ignitions, but some residual smoke could be visible...
