Story Transcript:

Cs: V předvečer velkého výročí kráčel Jiří po sněhem pokrytých schodech starého rodinného domu.
En: On the eve of the big anniversary, Jiří walked up the snow-covered steps of the old family house.

En: The house was like something out of a fairy tale, with old trees all around draped in a white blanket, and inside, the house exuded a warm atmosphere.

Cs: Krb praskal a v kuchyni to vonělo po vanilce a perníkovém koření.
En: The fireplace crackled, and the kitchen smelled of vanilla and gingerbread spices.

Cs: Jiří měl na sobě teplý svetr a ruce plné seznamů a plánů.
En: Jiří wore a warm sweater and had his hands full of lists and plans.

Cs: Musel vše nachystat dokonale.
En: He had to prepare everything perfectly.

En: He wanted to prepare a surprise for his parents that they deserved after so many years together.

En: Deep down, however, he sensed that his younger sister Aneta had different ideas.

Cs: Aneta byla doma.
En: Aneta was at home.

Cs: Seděla v obýváku, nohy měla na stole a popíjela horkou čokoládu.
En: She was sitting in the living room with her feet on the table, sipping hot chocolate.

En: "Jiří, why don't you stop for a moment and have some too?"

Cs: navrhla s úsměvem.
En: she suggested with a smile.

Cs: Jiří si povzdechl.
En: Jiří sighed.

Cs: "Musíme se soustředit, Aneto.
En: "We have to focus, Aneta.

En: Time is running out," he replied, and his patience was beginning to wear thin.

Cs: Aneta se usmála.
En: Aneta smiled.

Cs: "Jiří, neber to tak vážně.
En: "Jiří, don't take it so seriously.

Cs: Nic se nestane, když to nebude dokonalé."
En: Nothing will happen if it's not perfect."

En: Jiří stopped and looked back at her.

En: "But I want it to be," he said slowly, as if he were speaking to himself.

Cs: Na den výročí se vše mělo konečně zrealizovat.
En: On the day of the anniversary, everything was finally supposed to come together.

Cs: Jenže zrovna, když Jiří měl pocit, že vše běží podle plánu, začala venku sněhová bouře.
En: But just as Jiří felt that everything was going according to plan, a snowstorm began outside.

Cs: Hosté se nemohli dostavit, jídlo se zpozdilo a dekorace znesnadňoval klesající teploty.
En: The guests couldn't make it, the food was delayed, and the decorations were being hindered by dropping temperatures.

Cs: Jiřího zavalil stres.
En: Jiří was overwhelmed with stress.

En: "We aren't going to manage, Aneta," he said, but Aneta put a hand on his shoulder.

Cs: "Zvládneme to.
En: "We can do it.

Cs: Musíme jen improvizovat."
En: We just have to improvise."
