Allison Crook, from the Wisconsin Farmers Union, and Mary Beth Collins, from the Center for Community and Non-Profit Studies at UW-Madison School of Human Ecology, join Jan Miyasaki to discuss the upcoming film screening they are hosting of the "Join or Die" documentary. They discuss the history of their respective organizations and how they are both connected to a holistic framework of civic health. The film itself is based on the work of renowned social scientist Dr. Robert Putnam - the idea that joining and engaging with clubs in our local communities is essential practice for the survival of a healthy democracy. The film screening will be held at the Marquee Theatre in Union South at 4:30 pm on Weds, Feb 11, with a short discussion to follow, along with opportunities for joining clubs!
