Good news from Sierra Leone
Published 2 months, 3 weeks ago
Description
Dr. Alhaji Njai is known to many WORT listeners as a former DJ on our Saturday PanAfrica show. Perhaps they know that he’s also a founder of Project 1808 in his native Sierra Leone and that he has started a college there, Koinadugu College.
Project 1808 held its 8th Science and Leadership festival in Alhaji’s home town, Kabala, last weekend and it was a great success in many ways. And as bad as the news is for us, Project 1808’s success is something that gives us hope and we want to pass that on!
In this interview with Gil Halsted Alhaji talks about this year’s festival and its theme, “Breaking Barriers” He also talks about how the attendance of the gathering has grown by drawing in people from neighboring countries and even further away and how excited and interested the attendees have been – and how much fun they had.
He also mentioned that the Africa Union wants to spread festivals like this one to other countries in Africa and that Project 1808 will be working on that in the future.
And Alhaji spoke of so many more things having to do with people learning to value their own culture and solving problems with their own resources which are best to hear from him in his own words.
With so many sad and bad things happening in the world, all of this is a wonderful message of hope for the future for all of us and we thank Dr. Alhaji Njai for bringing it to us.
