Washington Nationals Hire New Pitching Coach

Published 4 weeks, 2 days ago
Description

The Washington Nationals are shaking up their coaching staff for the 2026 season, bringing in fresh college coaches and experienced pros. Simon Matthews, a former Temple pitcher and Georgetown grad, is the new pitching coach. He has an interesting path, starting as a pro with the Los Angeles Angels, then coaching at Driveline Baseball, and later running the Cincinnati Reds pitching program in the Dominican Republic. Matthews and Sean Doolittle, who stays on as assistant pitching coach, have a strong bond. Matthews is excited to work with young talent like Cade Cavalli, Jake Irvin, Mitchell Parker, and reliever Jose Ferrer, who throws 100 mph sinkers. With promising arms rising through the minors, Matthews is eager to maximize their potential and help the Nationals build momentum. Checkout Solipillow.com
