Back from Abu Dhabi. Travel Is Anti-Aging for the Brain.
Description
After returning from Abu Dhabi, I reflect on travel as a way of staying mentally flexible.
Even in a short journey, moving through unfamiliar cities reminds me how much there is still to learn, regardless of age. Travel naturally places us in situations where we become beginners again, which stimulates the brain and challenges habitual thinking.
Neuroscience suggests that learning new skills activates the hippocampus and supports neural plasticity, while routine and familiarity can gradually push the brain into an energy-saving mode.
In this episode, I share a quiet observation from my recent trip—both the moments of curiosity and the times I slipped into comfort and inaction. It’s a simple reflection on how unfamiliar environments, small mistakes, and even missed opportunities can play a role in keeping the mind engaged over time.
