Seattle Mariners Strengthen Pitching Staff: Acquire Cooper Criswell, Designate Jonathan Diaz
The Seattle Mariners have been active in bolstering their pitching staff this offseason. Following the signing of Dane Dunning to a minor league deal, they acquired Cooper Criswell from the New York Mets in a minor trade. Criswell, a 29-year-old right-hander, was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in 2018 and has since pitched for the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox. His best season came in 2024 with the Red Sox, where he threw 99.1 innings over 26 appearances, 18 of them starts, finishing with a 6-5 record and a 4.08 ERA. In Seattle, Criswell could provide depth for the rotation or bullpen, especially if reliever Hancock is moved there full-time. With several Mariners relievers heading to the World Baseball Classic, Criswell and other newcomers like Dunning have an opportunity to impress and earn a roster spot. Checkout Solipillow.com
