Hey folks, Artificial Lure here, your go-to guy for all things angling around Los Angeles. It's a crisp morning out there, sunrise hit at 6:54 AM and we'll see sunset around 5:15 PM today, per Tide-Forecast.com. Tides are looking solid: high at midnight 00:05 with 4.47 feet, low at 5:47 AM at 1.84 feet, another high at 11:29 AM reaching 4.35 feet, and evening low at 5:59 PM with 0.62 feet—perfect for moving water and active bites, says Tide-Forecast.com.
Weather's cooperating with mild temps in the low 60s, light winds, and that SoCal sunshine breaking through—ideal for getting on the water without getting soaked. Fish are chewing hard lately! Boats out of Long Beach, 22nd Street Landing, and San Pedro are slamming limits. Victory out of Long Beach had 55 anglers pull 385 whitefish, 275 sculpin, 100 perch, and 7 sand bass on a 3/4 day, while Amigo nabbed 78 rockfish and 2 white seabass overnight. Triton's crew with 16 folks got 132 rockfish, 28 red snapper, 12 whitefish. Pursuit filled bags with 190 rockfish, 70 red snapper, whitefish, sheephead. Monte Carlo hit limits on reds and mixed rockfish using anchovies—game changer! Eldorado saw 262 rockfish, whitefish, vermillion. Pride even grabbed a seabass, halibuts, lingcod. Rockfish, whitefish, sculpin, reds, sheephead, and occasional white seabass are dominating catches right now, water temps hovering 60-61 degrees.
For lures, drop-shot rigs with small plastics or jigs in pink or green are killing it on rockfish and snapper. Best bait? Anchovies hands down for the mixed bag, or squid strips for bottom dwellers. Live sardines if you can net 'em for those seabass.
Hot spots: Hit Catalina Island for rockfish action—trouble like Triton and Pursuit are lighting it up. Or Santa Barbara Island for quality whitefish and sheephead, where Eldorado's been steady.
