Al Spitale, Wind Mitigation Surveyor, joins Newell to talk about the Louisiana Wind Mitigation program which offers homeowners incentives, like tax breaks and insurance premium discounts, for strengthening their homes against hurricanes and storms by meeting standards of the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code (LSBCC). Al is a certified inspector and for a fee will survey the roof and make a report on how resilient the home is and where improvements can be made to better protect the home. The homeowner then can submit the report to their insurance company for a possible discount.
