Can Strong Winds Sink a Cruise Ship?

Can Strong Winds Sink a Cruise Ship?

Published 1 month, 1 week ago
Description

Ever wondered if strong winds could actually sink a cruise ship? The short answer is: it’s possible, but super unlikely. Modern cruise ships are designed to handle crazy weather, with stabilizers to reduce rocking and engines powerful enough to steer through storms. Even hurricane-force winds would usually only make things bumpy, not sink the ship. That said, extreme situations like rogue waves combined with high winds could create problems, but the odds of that happening are incredibly slim.
