Despite referendum, MMSD faces budget uncertainty

The Madison Board of Education met earlier this week to discuss their 2026-2027 school budget. Although talks are still in the preliminary stage, district staff highlighted concerns over a possible decrease in state aid and a 14 million dollar increase in health insurance costs.
For an in-depth preview of the district’s budget outlook, WORT reporter Maria Segura sat down with Bob Soldner, MMSD’s Assistant Superintendent of Financial Services.
