Ambulance Victoria has introduced a new mask fit-testing pathway using the Singh Thattha technique. This allows paramedics who maintain facial hair for religious, cultural, or medical reasons to meet safety requirements. The change follows Monash University paramedic student Prabhjeet Singh Gill, 19, being denied a mask fit test due to his beard, an article of faith for Sikhs. The new approach ensures paramedics can maintain their beliefs while staying safe on the job. - ‘ਐਂਬੂਲੈਂਸ ਵਿਕਟੋਰੀਆ’ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੁਣ ਪੈਰਾਮੈਡਿਕਸ ‘ਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ, ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦਾੜ੍ਹੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਮਿਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਮੋਨਾਸ਼ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ 'ਚ ਪਰਾਮੈਡੀਕ ਦੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ 19 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਿੱਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ Australian Human Rights 'ਚ ਦਾਇਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਨੀਤੀ ਹਰ ਧਰਮ ਤੇ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਏਗੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਦਾੜ੍ਹੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
