Jarmo Kekäläinen's first monster move as GM of the Columbus Blue Jackets was to acquire Artemi Panarin in a trade. Will history repeat itself? There is reason to believe the New York Rangers would be open to moving their best player, who's contract expires at the end of the season. Could Jarmo and the Buffalo Sabres swoop in for Panarin? There are lots of things that make a trade difficult, including Panarin likely being a rental for the Sabres, his age, his salary, and a very high trade cost. Sneaky Joe presents pick + prospect trade ideas, but also the possibility of an Alex Tuch for Artemi Panarin swap. Even if it's only for three months, Panarin could be the key to ending the playoff drought, and even maybe having playoff success this season.

Plus, what the Sabres have in front of them in a matchup at Madison Square Garden against the Rangers, who are without both Igor Shesterkin and Adam Fox for this game. The Rangers do not have much else that should scare the Sabres without those two. However, Colten Ellis starting for the Sabres in goal presents an element of unknown to the matchup.
