Wyoming Supreme Court Upholds Abortion Rights
Published 1 week ago
Description
Wyomings Supreme Court upholds abortion rights, striking down two anti-abortion laws, including the nations first explicit ban on abortion pills. The decision, based on the state constitutions health care choice protection, comes after the U.S. Supreme Courts 2022 overturn of Roe v. Wade. The lawsuit was brought by the states only abortion clinic, an advocacy group, and four women, including two obstetricians. Governor Mark Gordon, a Republican, urges lawmakers to propose a new constitutional amendment banning abortion for voters to decide this fall. Other restrictions, like surgical center standards and ultrasounds for medication abortions, could still move forward.
