Season 3 Episode 76

AI Context: In today’s episode of Lifespring! One Year Bible Rewind, Steve Webb reads Mark 1–2 and reflects on the moment Jesus “saw their faith.” The friends of a paralyzed man do something bold and costly to bring him to Jesus, reminding us that genuine faith is not only a belief we hold, it is a trust that moves. The episode also includes a Verse of the Day from Mark 2:5 and a brief “On This Date in Church History” spotlight.
Faith Has Legs
Today’s reading is Mark 1–2.
Mark 2:5 — “When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven.’”
Mark’s Gospel moves fast, and you can feel it right away. Jesus calls disciples, teaches with authority, confronts evil, heals the sick, and draws crowds who cannot get enough of Him. Then, in Mark 2, four friends refuse to let obstacles stop them. They cannot reach Jesus through the crowd, so they go up, break through, and lower their friend right in front of Him.
That moment becomes the heartbeat of today’s reflection: “When Jesus saw their faith…” Faith showed up in action. It had effort. It had risk. It had persistence. And it brought someone who needed Jesus into the presence of Jesus. That is why today’s title is what it is. Faith has legs.
We remember the birth of Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834), often called the “Prince of Preachers,” known for Christ-centered preaching and deep confidence in the authority of Scripture.
Have a thought about today’s reading or the idea that faith takes action? I’d love to hear from you.
