Cs: Karlův most byl pokryt lehkým popraškem sněhu, a jeho sochy byly jemně osvětlovány pouličními lampami.
En: Karlův most was covered with a light dusting of snow, and its statues were gently illuminated by street lamps.

Cs: Zástupy lidí se scházely, zabalené v zimních kabátech, a čekaly na ohňostroj nad Vltavou.
En: Crowds of people gathered, wrapped in winter coats, waiting for the fireworks over the Vltava.

Cs: Byl poslední den roku a Václavské náměstí bylo plné očekávání.
En: It was the last day of the year, and Václavské náměstí was full of anticipation.

Cs: Jirka plánoval tento večer dlouho.

Cs: Chtěl požádat Katerinu o ruku, když hodiny odbijí půlnoc.

En: The two of them began to look around.
