Season 3 Episode 72
Episode Context: In this episode of Lifespring! One Year Bible Rewind, we read 1 Samuel 1-5 as part of our daily journey through the Bible. Today’s reading highlights Hannah’s faithful vow, Samuel’s call from God, and Israel’s sobering lesson that religious symbols cannot replace obedience. This episode includes Scripture readings, pastoral commentary, a Verse of the Day, and an On This Date in Church History reflection.

Today’s Bible Reading

CommentaryHannah’s story is one of deep anguish, bold faith, and extraordinary follow-through. In a time when spiritual leadership was corrupt and careless, Hannah entrusted her pain to God and kept her vow even when it meant personal sacrifice. Samuel’s calling reminds us that God often speaks quietly and persistently, and that obedience begins with a willing heart. Together, these chapters warn us against treating God as a religious object rather than the living Lord who calls His people to faithfulness.
Verse of the Day1 Samuel 2:9
“He will guard the feet of his faithful ones, but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness, for not by might shall a man prevail.”
On This Date in Church HistoryOn December 20, 1831, Philip Schaff was born in Switzerland. He became one of the most influential church historians of the 19th century, helping believers understand the breadth and continuity of Christian history. Schaff believed that knowing church history strengthens faith rather than weakens it.
