On the 28th of December 1987, Ronald Gene Simmons put down his gun and surrendered himself to the Russellville police. Over the 7 days surrounding Christmas Day, Gene murdered 16 people – including 14 members of his own family – in what many consider to be the worst mass murder in Arkansas history.
