Big Mac and Goals

Season 2 Episode 3

In a world that constantly pushes us toward vague aspirations and unfocused ambitions, we're reminded through Acts 20:24 that true purpose comes from finishing the race God has set before us. The Apostle Paul's declaration—that he considered his life worth nothing except to complete the task of testifying to God's grace—challenges us to examine our own goals and commitments. Are we setting measurable, realistic, and practical goals that stretch us beyond our comfort zones? Just as a baseball player can't simply wish to hit better but must work toward specific, achievable improvements, our spiritual lives require the same intentionality. We learn that goal-setting isn't about fear of failure but about embracing growth through perseverance. When we make our goals measurable—whether it's reducing errors, increasing consistency, or deepening our faith practices—we create a pathway to see God's work in our lives. The key isn't perfection but progress, not avoiding challenges but pressing toward the prize with eyes fixed on the task Christ has given us. This Christmas season reminds us that the greatest gift we can give ourselves is the commitment to finish strong, to persevere when we want to quit, and to value nothing more than completing what God has called us to do.
