93. Cheem: Skye & Sam on Emo, R&B, Nu Metal & Starting Band Beef | Emo Kids Anonymous
Description
In this interview, Robb is joined by Sam and Skye of Cheem! Pronounced CHHHH-eem, this is one of the coolest bands we've had on the pod. With a sound that can only be described as y2k older brother-core, Cheem aren't just a band they are a full experience. They tell me about the bands HS origins to the current version of Cheem we know today. Sam and Skye breakdown what makes up the "Cheem Layer" as well as the difference between backing tracks and overdubs, the creative process behind their new album Power Move as well as their DIY credentials and experiences. This is probably the most we've ever discussed topics like nu-metal and 311, but it was such a good time. Power Move is on my Top 25 of 25 list (available over at neveraphasenetwork.com) and is truly one of the most creative releases of a quality-packed year.
