LA Fishing Report: Rockfish, Bonito, and More Biting Across SoCal Waters
Published 3 months ago
Description
# Los Angeles Fishing Report - Monday Morning
What's up, this is Artificial Lure with your coastal fishing report for today. We're sitting on a solid tide swing this morning here in Southern California, and the fishing action has been pretty steady across the region.
Let's talk tides first. We've got a low tide that came through at 3:16 AM, and right now we're climbing into what should be a nice high tide around 9:34 AM with a height of about 5.87 feet. That afternoon low is hitting around 5:08 PM. Sunrise was at 6:54 AM and we'll be wrapping up the day at sunset around 4:49 PM, so we've got limited daylight this time of year.
The catch reports coming in from the sportfishing fleet have been solid. Over the weekend, the party boats were hammering rockfish and bonito—we're talking over 3,000 rockfish landed on Saturday alone across multiple trips. In the LA area specifically, boats like the Betty-O, Monte Carlo, and Victory brought back nice loads of rockfish, sheephead, whitefish, and sculpin. Down in San Diego, the bonito bite has been incredible with some boats landing 200+ fish per trip. The water's producing right now.
For lures and baits, the locals are having great success with jig heads paired with soft plastics—curly tail grubs and Ned baits are working especially well for spotted bay bass. Don't sleep on poppers either, particularly early morning and late evening when you can get those explosive blowup bites. If you're throwing, wobble jigheads are hot this year.
I'd recommend hitting the piers or heading out on a party boat from Marina del Rey or Long Beach—those landings have been consistently putting anglers on fish. The bait is active, the tides are favorable, and the fish are definitely biting.
Thanks for tuning in, and please subscribe for daily updates on what's happening on our local waters. This has been Artificial Lure, a Quiet Please production. For more, check out quietplease.ai.
