In this episode, we reflect on a powerful lesson from my mentor, Kelly, who once said, "True change can only happen on the inside." This sentiment resonates deeply, especially when we consider how often we try to change our behaviour first, believing that if we work harder or wear a smile, life will fall into place.
It's a common misconception that leads many of us to feel like we're cracking the whip on ourselves, only to find that once the pressure eases, we slip right back into old patterns.
We often move to phase two, the so-called attitude shift, plastering on grins and repeating affirmations in hopes of masking our inner turmoil. But let's be honest: behavioural change is external, and attitude change is fleeting. Both rely on willpower, which can be as short-lived as a toddler's energy after a sugar rush.
So, what's the alternative? It's time for a paradigm shift—an internal transformation that changes not only what we do, but also how we perceive things. When our perceptions shift, our behaviours follow naturally.
