Toronto Men Charged with Hate Crimes, Terrorism
Three young men from Toronto, Waleed Khan, Osman Azizov, and Fahad Sadaat, have been indicted on serious charges of sexual assault, targeting the Jewish community, and plotting abductions. The suspects face seventy-five counts related to hate-motivated crimes, following arrests in August. The investigation, Project Neapolitan, was launched after violent incidents in the Greater Toronto Area, including attempted abductions and evidence of extremism. The Jewish community is alarmed by a rise in antisemitism, with Bnai Brith Canada reporting a 124% increase in incidents over two years. Federal authorities added terrorism charges against Khan for funding ISIS and supplying social media accounts. The men are due in court on January 29th, as investigators withhold details to protect the cases.
