Akeem Evans, a Raleigh man, has been sentenced to fifty years in federal prison for leading a major drug trafficking organization. His group distributed significant amounts of fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine, causing widespread harm in the community. Evans was found guilty on charges including conspiracy, possession, and intent to distribute illegal drugs. He operated from multiple homes, distributing at least eleven kilograms of cocaine, over four point eight kilograms of crack cocaine, and fentanyl, oxycodone, and marijuana. Authorities found stash houses and encrypted communications used to avoid law enforcement. In March 2022, a search warrant led to the recovery of several kilograms of cocaine, hundreds of grams of crack cocaine, fentanyl pills, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and firearms from locations linked to Evans.
