Story Transcript:
Ga: Bhí an geimhreadh ann agus bhí an Nollaig ag druidim linn go tapa.
En: Winter had arrived, and Christmas was approaching rapidly.
Ga: Bhí Aoife lán díograise agus fuinneamh.
En: Aoife was full of enthusiasm and energy.
Ga: Ba mhaith léi taisteal agus spraoi a bheith aici lena cairde Conor agus Maeve.
En: She wanted to travel and have fun with her friends Conor and Maeve.
Ga: Bhí turas teorainn díreach tosnaithe acu trí thírdhreach álainn na hÉireann.
En: They had just started a border journey through the beautiful landscape of Ireland.
Ga: Bhí an aimsir fuar, ach bhí spiorad te na Nollag sa charr acu.
En: The weather was cold, but the warm spirit of Christmas was in the car with them.
Ga: Bhí Aoife mar threoraí an turais seo.
En: Aoife was the guide for this trip.
Ga: "Tá an bóthar seo cinte is rabhta," a dúirt Aoife le muinín.
En: "This road is surely one we've traveled before," Aoife said confidently.
Ga: Bhí Maeve agus Conor grim siar sa suíocháin, ag breathnú ar na páirceanna glasa agus na caora bán ag síneadh amach i ngach treo.
En: Maeve and Conor grinned in the seats, looking at the green fields and the white sheep stretching out in every direction.
Ga: Go tobann, chonacthas comhartha bóthair neamhghnách acu: "Triail Madraí Caorach Amach Romhainn.
En: Suddenly, they saw an unusual road sign: "Sheepdog Trials Ahead."
Ga: " Bhí Aoife róghafa le tiomáint, agus níor thug sí faoi deara é.
En: Aoife was too focused on driving and didn't notice it.
Ga: Bhí na bóithre caola agus cam, ag crochadh suas síos cnoc agus isteach sna gleannta.
En: The roads were narrow and winding, climbing up and down hills and into valleys.
Ga: Ní raibh sé fada go raibh an carr i lár páirce oscailte, madraí ag tafann agus daoine ag béicíl, i lár na triailachas madraí caorach.
En: It wasn't long before the car was in the middle of an open field, with dogs barking and people shouting, in the middle of the sheepdog trials.
Ga: "Cad atá ar siúl?
En: "What's going on?!"
Ga: " a scread Conor.
En: screamed Conor.
Ga: Aoife, lán phaisean, d'fhan ar an stiúir.
En: Passionate, Aoife stayed at the wheel.
Ga: "Ná bíodh imní ort, bainfidh mé amach sinn as seo!
En: "Don't worry, I'll get us out of here!"
Ga: " a dúirt sí.
En: she said.
Ga: Ach is cosúil nach raibh deireadh maith leis an bplean seo.
En: But it seemed that this plan wasn't going to end well.
Ga: D'eitil an carr i dtreo luaith le gníomh.
En: The car sped off in a flurry of action.
Ga: Lasmuigh, thosaigh madraí ag iarraidh caoirigh a chur in ord.
En: Outside, dogs began trying to herd the sheep into order.
Ga: "Stop!
En: "Stop!"
Ga: " a bhéic Maeve, ag léim ar ais isteach sa suíochán tosaigh.
En: shouted Maeve, jumping back into the front seat.
Ga: "Lig dom an léarscáil a léamh.
En: "Let me read the map.
Ga: Táimid sa bhealach mícheart!
En: We're on the wrong path!"
Ga: "Le heagla a bualadh ar na caoirigh, d'éirigh le Conor an stiúir a ghlacadh faoina smacht.
En: Afraid of startling the sheep, Conor managed to take control of the wheel.
Ga: Seo a bhfuil Aoife a d'fhoghlaim: fiú amháin an navigator is fearr, uaireanta bíonn cúnaimh de dhíth.
En: This is what Aoife learned: even the best navigator sometimes needs help.
